It's a tree! Well, it is, I suppose.
Painted during January and February, 2006. The bare trees around me were a series of lines, diminishing in thickness, wandering in direction - apparently at random. Some branches creating new shapes when meeting others. Each like a child sprouting out of a parent - and assuming its own identity; some following straight trajectories others wild and convoluted.
I was listening to some rather freeform modern jazz music while getting lost in the painting - and found the improvising by the soloists followed a similar pattern when branching out of the original (parent) tune; some angular and aggressive - some quite easy on the ear.
