Hot Vortex
Acrylics on canvas 1000 x 1200mm

Painted during April, 2008. My largest canvas to date uses a technique explored in a few previous pieces, but also introduces a new application tool; the hypodermic syringe!

The sheer power of this one to captivate is astounding. At close inspection there is fine detail, where strong, thick colours stand proud of the surface in relief - meeting with contrasting thin washes. And standing back to survey the whole thing, it is an exciting, almost kinetic painting. It demands to be seen face to face. I really can't wait to get this one up on a gallery wall. Yes, I am in a rather exciteable frame of mind as I type this.
